Angella Kushemererwa
Leadership Team / Uganda

My name is Angella Kushemererwa. I have over 16 years of experience working with refugees through UNHCR agencies doing humanitarian, emergency response and relief work, with a special focus on planning and management, financial management, operations and administration, community mobilization, monitoring, and evaluation.

Currently, I am working in partnership with ADAMÂ in the Oruchinga bakery, where we also have skills training for tailoring and basket weaving.  Our project employs a total of 25 youth who have been trained to make delicious bread, cakes and cookies. The bakery provides nutritious bread to vulnerable children of Oruchinga on a weekly basis. The project also provides psychosocial support through one-on-one sessions, home visits and weekly drumming sessions with the Umoja drummers group.  I am moved by how the drumming sessions have contributed to peaceful co-existence and trauma healing among the refugee youth, who are now participating in the community activities.. These activities are having a powerful impact on the day-to-day life of children that receive bread as well as those employed in the bakery. I look forward to inspiring and giving hope to more refugees in Oruchinga and Nakivale Refugee Settlements. I am delighted to be part of the project that is inspiring and impacting life skills of the youth.
